Antique Toast Holder
Antique Toast Holder
Here is very unique antique silver on copper toast holder! Note the intricate handle and the roped edging. The lion paw feet add a very stately touch! Toast racks became popular in the Victorian Era to keep toast dry and to serve it easily. In fact, they were touted in an 1865 book called, Mrs. Beeton's Dictionary of Every-Day Cookery, in which the author writes "to make dry toast properly, a great deal of attention is required; much more, indeed, than people generally suppose." Very good antique condition. 5.75" x 3.5"
