**Antique transfer ware was made beginning in the 18th century in England by applying an engraved copper and inked pattern to the porcelain and then glazing and firing the piece. Wedgewood and Staffordshire made most of the beautiful pieces, sometimes under various names like Union and Estrucan or sometimes unmarked. The potteries began copying the Chinese decorated plates and products and then adapted them to European scenes instead. Eventually the English made china and pottery featuring American scenes to ship to the new country. #transferware
