Antique Cooper Brothers Cased Travel Flatware Set — Mother of Pearl Knife w/ Sterling Ferrule

This is such a special little find: a gold-rimmed leather case that opens to a red satin and velvet interior, fitted perfectly for a 3-piece set (fork, knife, spoon). Each piece is marked CBS, which is commonly seen for Cooper Brothers of Sheffield, England which was a well-known English maker.  The knife is the showstopper—mother of pearl handle, sterling silver ferrule, and a silverplated etched blade with a really pretty pattern. The fork and spoon have matching decorative handles and nest snugly back into the case.

As for “why just one set?” Pieces like this were often made as personal/travel cutlery (think: a gentleman’s bag, picnic kit, office/luncheon set, or a compact set kept for outings). Measurements: Fork 6”, Spoon 6”, Knife 7”.
