Antique Square Wilcox Dish

This is an antique silver-plated dish by Wilcox Silver Plate Co. of Meriden, Connecticut. It features a square form with softly curved sides and an ornate scroll border that frames the piece so nicely.

It measures 5.75” x 5.75”, a very usable size for small serving, a catchall, or layering into a tabletop vignette.

Marked on the underside for Wilcox and noted as quadrouple plate. Quadrouple plate refers to the process used in the late 19th and early 20th century where four layers of silver were applied over a base metal. It was a way to create a thicker, more durable silver finish than standard plating, and pieces marked this way were considered higher quality for everyday use.

There is visible scratching and wear to the silverplate, as shown, consistent with age and use.
