Antique Victorian Bridal Basket – Brittania Plate

This is such a special one. A beautiful antique Victorian bridal basket with fluted detailing, delicate florals, and a graceful arched handle—it’s absolutely stunning. This piece has been in my personal collection for quite a while because I’ve always loved it so much, but I’ve decided it’s time to let it go in today’s sale.

It’s likely Britannia plate, which was an earlier alternative to silverplate using a specific type of pewter base known for its soft, silvery appearance. It doesn’t shine up quite as brightly as later silverplated pieces and tends to have a more muted, antique glow. You could give it a light polish, but I’ve always loved the mellow finish just as it is.
