English Silver on Copper Gravy Boat

Lovely silver on copper gravy boat and undertray made in Sheffield in the Cavendish Plate “Reproduction Old Sheffield Plate” style. This is such a charming set with wonderful colonial-inspired form and proportions. The gravy boat rests on three feet and sits perfectly into its matching tray, giving it such a refined traditional look for a table setting.

Marked EP on Copper and “Reproduction Old Sheffield Plate.” These reproduction pieces were made to honor the craftsmanship of original 18th and early 19th century Old Sheffield Plate wares, which were created by fusing sterling silver over copper before the invention of electroplating. Sheffield, England became world famous for this technique and remains closely associated with some of the finest silverplate ever produced.

Very nice vintage condition with light surface scratching consistent with age and use, particularly scratches on the tray beneath the gravy boat. Overall displays beautifully and has a wonderful warm silver tone. 7.25" long.
