Antique Swing Basket

This is a really beautiful antique silverplate basket with a classic pierced gallery edge and a graceful swing handle. The openwork design wrap all the way around the rim.

It sits on round ball feet and has a nicely shaped swing handle with a rounded finial at the top.

The underside is marked J.O.N. EPNS, which is associated with John Oxley & Co. of England. Pieces marked EPNS (electroplated nickel silver) like this were produced in the late 19th to early 20th century. English makers like J.O.N. are known for their refined pierced work and traditional forms.

Excellent antique condition. Light monogram. 10.5" wide by 8" tall.
