Wow!! Huge Antique Flower Frog by Barbour

This is a spectacular piece! An extra-large silver on copper flower frog with the most wonderful repoussé details. I have never seen one this large or with this much detail! Flowers, scrollwork, and cherubs decorate its beautifully flared sides. The shape is so unusual, and there is so much to admire up close! A great example of Reppousse, the art of hammering designs into silver.

Made by Barbour Silver Co., International Silver, this is a very special and highly prized piece. Barbour Silver Company was a Hartford, Connecticut, maker of silverware. Founded in 1892, it became one of the companies that formed International Silver in 1898.I love it filled with roses, where the flower frog helps hold each stem in place to create a beautiful, full arrangement. It makes quite a statement on a dining table or sideboard—a piece to build your whole table around!

13" wide. Excellent antique condition. please see photos. the sides have a dark finish to the silver. I'm not sure if this will polish up more.
