Antique "Old Sheffield Plate" Vase

This little antique vase has so much character! This is the collectible "Old Sheffield Plate" dating to the late 1700s or early 1800s I am always talking about on Instagram! Beautiful floral and scrolling details surround the body, and the warm copper showing through the remaining silver gives it such a lovely aged appearance. At 4.5” tall, it makes a wonderful vase for a small bunch of flowers.

This early plating technique involved fusing silver to copper, then rolling the combined metals into sheets before shaping them into an object. The visible construction seam is an especially interesting detail, offering a glimpse into how the piece was assembled, making it so different from electroplated pieces.

As you can see, substantial silver wear has exposed the copper beneath, especially around the pedestal base. I love being able to see that history in a piece! A wonderful addition to an antique collection, whether displayed on its own or filled with flowers.

Measures 4.5” tall.
