Antique Early 20th-Century Gorham NewportChampagne Bucket

Here’s a classic piece most homes can truly use—a well-made champagne bucket. This antique example by Gorham Manufacturing Company in the Newport pattern was made in the early 1900's. It has a wonderful weight to it and reflects the high quality Gorham is known for, making it a dependable and substantial piece.

The Newport pattern was produced by the Gorham Manufacturing Company, a leading American silver manufacturer founded in 1831 in Providence, Rhode Island. Introduced in the late 1800s, Newport became a popular design for its restrained, traditional styling suited to formal entertaining.

This champagne bucket is an early 20th-century example of the pattern, marked with Gorham’s “G” cartouche and the Newport name. It reflects the heavy construction and quality silverplate Gorham was known for during this period.

 It measures approximately 10″ tall by 10″ wide with some tarnish and wear to the interior silverplate from normal use. There is also a small section of wear along the rim that I photographed. Otherwise excellent condition.
