Antique Silver on Copper Footed Pitcher by Lawrence B. Smith Co.

What a charming shape! This beautiful antique silverplated pitcher is quite different from the traditional pitchers we often see. Its wonderfully rounded body, sweeping spout, graceful handle, and four little ball feet give it such an interesting silhouette!

I especially love the low, wide proportions of this piece. Measuring 8.75 inches wide and 7 inches tall, it is absolutely wonderful for floral arrangements. The lower height allows flowers to spread out beautifully, creating a full, lush arrangement without the height of a traditional pitcher. As you can see, it looks spectacular filled with roses!

The pitcher is marked Sheffield, L.B.S. Co., a mark associated with Lawrence B. Smith Co. of Boston, Massachusetts. Established in 1887, the company produced beautiful silver serving pieces during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. I believe this pitcher likely dates to the early 1900s.

It is silver over copper and has some areas of wear to the silver on both the interior and exterior. The warm copper tones peeking through are characteristic of this type of antique silverplate. There are also surface marks consistent with age and use. Please review the photographs carefully to see the condition.

A wonderfully unusual antique pitcher that would look just as beautiful filled with flowers on a dining table as it would displayed on a sideboard or mantel!
