Swan Dish Circa 1860
Swan Dish Circa 1860
When I saw the swan on this domed dish circa 1860, I knew I had to have it. it sits on four feet and the greek key design that lines the rim is such a wonderful detail. It was made by Roger Smith & Co. which was an American silver-plating firm working in New Haven, Connecticut during the 1800's, part of the early wave of manufacturers who helped establish the United States as a center for high-quality silverplate production before consolidation into larger Meriden firms. This piece bears the New Haven mark. 6.5" w x 6.5" tall. Very good antique condition. Some tarnish to the silverplate and the way the feet are set it wobbles VERY slightly.
