Lovely antique Silver Butter Dome by Tufts

Here is a beautiful antique silver plate butter dome which was made by J. W. Tufts Silver Co in Boston..  Tufts silver company operated in the 1800's.  Many pieces and original catalogues are in the Smithsonian Museum Collections.  Interestingly  Mr. Tufts founded the village of Pinehurst in North Carolina which now contains the renown Pinehurst Resort and golf course.  This butter dome has lovely chased medallions on its highly domed lid.  The original drain tray sits in the interior and the base sits on tall elaborately decorated legs.  There is a holder for a butter knife on front, the ornate knife included while antique, is not original to this piece.  It is in very good antique condition with a few minor tarnish areas.  It stands 8.5" tall x 8 x 7.
