Murano Glass Fruit Topper

Wonderful old Murano glass fruit arrangement with handwired grapes and glass beads. The colors are so good in person — deep ruby, emerald green, amber, frosted lavender, and soft citron tones all mixed together.

This was likely made in Italy as a decorative centerpiece topper or table ornament. Murano glass comes from the island of Murano near Venice, where glassmakers have been creating handmade art glass for centuries. Pieces like this became especially popular in the mid-century years for dining room and entertaining displays.

I love the open metal framework underneath all of the fruit and beadwork. The clear glass beads woven throughout almost look like drops of water on the vines. Every cluster is wired by hand.

Vintage condition with age to the metal frame and wiring as expected. There is bending and irregularity throughout from age and handmade construction. Displays beautifully. The frame is 7” x 5.75”
