The most popular pattern ever created by Wallace is this one, Baroque! Created by William S. Warren, the pattern celebrates the rich artistry of the Baroque period. Warren drew on his knowledge of Renaissance and Baroque styles to create its lavish flourishes, detailed florals, and elegant beading. It has become an enduring and highly sought-after Wallace pattern.

This is such a beautiful tray! At 14" wide, it is a wonderful size for entertaining or displaying on a coffee table, bar, or sideboard. The elaborate swirls and flourishes are quintessential Wallace Baroque, and I especially love the added detail of the little bun feet that elevate it from the table.

Silverplated and in excellent vintage condition. A gorgeous, substantial piece that is just as pretty styled as it is useful for serving.

Interesting History of Wallace Silver

Robert Wallace was born in Prospect, Connecticut, in 1815 to Scottish immigrant parents. At just 16 years old, he began an apprenticeship with Captain William Mix, a skilled spoon maker who worked for the Meriden Britannia Company, one of the Northeast's leading manufacturers of cutlery and hollowware.

After learning the silver trade, Wallace purchased an old gristmill and established his own small silver shop in 1833, initially producing silver spoons.

A major turning point came when Wallace discovered a nickel alloy known as German silver being used by Dixon and Sons of Sheffield, England. Fascinated by the material, he purchased the formula from chemist Dr. Louis Feuchtwanger for $20. Wallace went on to produce one of the earliest American versions of German silver, helping establish the company that would eventually become one of America's best-known names in silver.
