Antique Blue and White Transferware platter
Antique Blue and White Transferware platter
This blue and white Booths “British Scenery” platter was made in England by the respected Staffordshire pottery firm Booths, founded in 1868 and known for its refined earthenware and beautifully executed transferware. The scene at the center depicts a peaceful pastoral country home with a horseback rider and grazing animals— a glimpse of the English countryside that Booths was so well known for. The image is framed by a garland of grape leaves and wheat.
Marked “Booths – Made in England”, this platter dates to the early 20th century, when scenic English transferware was especially popular for both serving and display. Measuring 14 inches wide. This has been repaired. If you look closely, you can see where there are two pieces on the far right that were reattached back to the platter. The price reflects this.
