An extraordinary Victorian tea and coffee service made in the late 1800's by Rogers. Each piece is decorated in a deeply hammered honeycomb pattern with applied figural creatures including bees, dragonflies, birds, florals, and a turtle. The lids are finished with detailed floral rosette finials.

The underside is marked “ Triple Plate." “Triple plate” referred to a higher quality silverplating process used during the Victorian era in which multiple layers of sterling silver were applied over the base.

This is not a common tea service. The hammered honeycomb surface combined with the applied insects and animals is so unique!! It feels very much in the spirit of the Aesthetic Movement, where nature motifs and highly decorative surfaces became popular in English design.

Includes the coffee pot, tea pot, sugar bowl, creamer, and waste vesel.

These are in very good antique condition with some tarnish and wear to the silver. These may polish up a bit more but there are areas where the silver has worn off and they will remain darker.

The coffee pot is 9" tall.
