Historic Art Nouveau Trophy Champagne Bucket

Fabulous! Not only is it obviously gorgeous and useful for flowers or champagne, I believe it has a very incredible history as well! From my research and based on the inscription, I believe this was presented to Manuel Rivero who was the first black football player to play at Columbia university. It was a huge deal and the following year, he became famous for his incredible performance at a December game against Princeton after which he became known as "the Golden Flash." He was such an interesting person who went on to be a professor at Lincoln university, and even had the athletic building named after him. The inscription reads:
"Copa
Manuel Rivero
Hurtado
12-1-30"

What a fabulous and interesting piece! There is a wonderful patina from wear to the silver that you can see in the photos. It is 20.75" tall.
